How can I find a league in my area?
Click on League Finder in the left column.

Where are leagues played?
Leagues may be played anywhere there is at least one regulation-size indoor badminton court: clubs, community centers, YMCAs, high schools, middle schools, colleges and universities, etc.  In addition, all Middle School Leagues, C-level leagues and D-level leagues have the option of playing indoors or outdoors.

How are the playing levels defined?
NBL offers junior, adult and senior leagues for A, B, C and D levels.  For definitions of these levels, click here.

What are the costs?
Fees will vary between leagues.  League Directors will determine fees based upon the costs of court time, shuttles, refreshments, administrative expenses, coach salary, League Director salary, etc.

What are the benefits?
All league participants receive:

  • Opportunities to have your team qualify for State/Province Playoffs, Regional Playoffs, and the NBL Championships

  • Special member prices from Badminton Warehouse until the closing date of the league season (see League Calendar above)

  • NBL t-shirt (for each league you enter; inaugural mixed league season only - May 1 through October 31)

Do teams travel or play all league matches within one facility?
Matches may be played exclusively within one facility and/or travel between facilities for matches.  For instance, a league director may organize a Men's A league that is played at one facility, or a Men's A league with numerous facilities and a schedule of home and away matches.  The Middle School League is designed to be primarily a traveling league in which teams from middle schools play each other in home and away matches.

May players participate in more than one league per season?
Yes, as long as the divisions are different.  For example, a player in a Men's C league may also play in a Men's B league during the same season.  A middle school may run a non-traveling (in-house) Boy's C league and a Girl's C league, and select some of those players to represent the school in a Middle School Traveling League.

Are there opportunities to progress beyond the local league level?
Yes. The winning team from each league qualifies for a State/Province Playoff, held in each state or province at the end of the league season. Winners will advance to the Regional Playoffs, and regional winners will advance to the NBL Championships.  Click here for NBL Regions.

Are players allowed to "play up" in ability level?
Players may play up in ability level but may not play down.  C players may play in the B division or A division, and B players may play in the A division.  However, A players may not play in the B division or C division, and B players may not play in the C division.
